Petroleum & Related Industries in Iran Nano exhibition:
Using nanotechnology can be effective in cleaning the environment and the conformity of oil projects with the environment and their surrounding area. As we witness today, oil industries are among polluting industries, and we witness destruction of living and rare ecosystems in various parts of the world due to the leaking of oil wastewater into the environment.
Using more environment friendly materials which can be deemed recyclable in the cycle of life can be effective in the preservation of the natural system of the world. In addition, nanotechnology has led to significant changes in polymer and petrochemistry industries. It has made possible the production of such materials with completely different properties for various uses from auto industry to the packaging of food products.
In Petroleum and Petrochemistry Industries Section of the Iran Nanotechnology Festival, the focal point is the use of nanotechnology in order to enhance the quality of petrochemical products. Production of firm and lighter pieces from plastic for various industries including vehicles, production of interior parts used in construction industry, production of light cement in the drilling of oil wells, using catalysts to eliminate sulphur compounds, and converting heavy oil to light oil are among the activities of this section in nanotechnology field.
Agriculture & Packaging:
Providing healthy and hygienic food and drinking water has always been one of the most serious challenges man has faced to survive. However, the ever-increasing growth of the population together with the limited resources on the earth has given more importance to the provision of the foodstuff required by humans.
Unfortunately, trying to increase agricultural products in the previous decades has severely damaged water and soil resources. Nanotechnology can cause significant changes in food and packaging industry as well as agriculture.
Nano-material Suppliers:
Raw materials are among the most important needs of the production industries. From research and primary tests up to the final manufacturing of products are all dependent on the production and supply of raw materials. Due to the intricate condition of production, maintenance, and purification of the raw materials, this need is much more noticeable in the field of nanotechnology. Therefore, making a special effort to produce high quality and standard raw materials required for research in nanotechnology field is among the production and research priorities of the country.
According the reports by Reporting Institute, global demand for nanomaterials is increasing and with an annual growth of 20%, their international market value will reach $3.6 billion by 2014. The international market value of nanomaterials is expected to reach $34 billion by 2025.
Machinery & Lab Equipment Manufacturers:
One of the requirements for the development of nanotechnology is the presence of advanced laboratories with precise instrument, skilled technicians, and provision of easy and full time services for the researchers. Researchers who are active in nanotechnology must be able to identify, classify, and produce nanostructures (including particles, molecules, and so on).
Gathering all laboratory facilities in the field of nanotechnology (including equipment, technicians and operators, maintenance of facilities) has in many cases been beyond the capability of the individual researchers and investors. Therefore, networking laboratory potentials in various technological fields especially nanotechnology is of great significance in developing nanotechnology in a country.
Therefore, the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council established a nanotechnology network in the early 2004, in order to pave the way for the provision of laboratory services for the researches in universities and industries, and to better utilize laboratory potentials in the country. During its activity, the network has so far accepted more than 57 laboratorial centers as its permanent members.
Tech-Market Services Company:
In this section of the festival, the executive structure of and the range of services provided by the companies including infrastructure services, product development and market development were introduced to the visitors.
Public Education:
At present and in addition to the necessity of teaching nanotechnology in schools and universities, promotion of this technology among the public has special importance, because the end users of nanotechnology products are the people in the society, and they must be familiar with the properties, applications, and safety points in this field.
On the other hand, university students and active people in the country’s industries need something more than Familiarity , and the need for specialized and meaningful education is felt more than ever. Public education and promotion is one of the most important and most extensive programs of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council in the promotion of the public education of nanotechnology.
This section includes:
- Corridor of the Familiarity with Nanotechnology
- Nanotechnology Students Club
- Specialized Bookshop
- Students Nanotechnology Societies
Trading Companies:
Trading products and technical know-how is one of the most important links in the development of knowledge-orientated economy. Taking into account the statistical analyses, knowledge-orientated companies often lack the required expertise in marketing and sales despite possessing the ability to manage entities based on the new technologies.
In addition, due to the lack of sufficient experience and unfamiliarity with customs procedures and international transactions, such companies face problems in the provision and supply of their required material and equipment. Therefore, it is imperative for knowledge-orientated companies to have commercial companies beside them.
Trading companies play an important role in the provision of materials and equipment required for researchers and industries active in nanotechnology field. Generally speaking, it can be said that these companies play a role in the implementation of domestic research projects from the 2 aspects of import and export. Commercial companies act on one hand as a link between technologies, foreign materials and equipment, and domestic research projects, and on the other hand, as the supplier of domestic products, raw materials, and the technical know-how to other countries.
