The CEO of Shahr-e Aftab International Exhibition Complex said the International Iran Gas Show 2018 could greatly help develop Iran’s gas industry, as it prepares the ground for companies to showcase capabilities and engage in a healthy competition.

“In this exhibition, industrialists, technicians, businessmen, experts and stakeholders in the global gas industry will be present. So this creates ground for healthy competition and is a chance for [companies] to show capabilities,” said Mohammadraouf Ghaderi.

Besides the gas sector, holding international exhibitions could also help encourage other Iranian industries, who have mainly neglected to make good marketing efforts, Ghaderi said.

“Despite Iran owns vast natural and human capacities, we are facing economic problems, because we have failed to introduce our products [in the international market],” he said, adding that hosting exhibitions could also help Iranian firms to benefit from experiences of their foreign counterparts and grow stronger.

Ghaderi said Iran’s exhibition industry could contribute a lot to the country’s economic development, if measures necessary to develop the industry are taken.

The current share of Iran’s exhibition industry in the country’s annual economic growth is less than one percent, he said.

This is while in some countries, this industry has a 15 percent share in national economic growth, Ghaderi said.

“The share of our industry in the country’s growth should be increased to 10 percent,” he said.

Shahr-e Aftab Development Plans

Ghaderi said Shahr-e Aftab complex is a developing urban landmark that in its final form will contains 15 salons with a total area of 150,000 square meters, an auditorium, three hotels, two world trade centres

He said the complex has strategies to expand its role in the Iranian economy and help spur the development of the country.

The CEO said they are working to change the venue of big exhibitions held in Tehran to Shahr-e Aftab, as holding these shows inside Tehran causes environment and traffic problems.

Ghaderi said they are also planning to turn the exhibition into an exhibition city, where visitors can have all their needs met.

“In developed countries, there are exhibition cities next to capitals or metropolitans, where the visitors, organizers and participants can fulfill all their needs,” he said, adding that such a city include shops, hotels, restaurant, parks and sport facilities.

He also said an economic free zone needs to be created next to the city, so foreign visitors and participants in the exhibitions get rid of bureaucratic mazes.

“If we manage to create a special free zone in south of Tehran, we will witness great economic prosperity [in Tehran and beyond],” he said.
